Are there limits on how much I can upload?
You are limited by the total space available in your account. If you need more space, you can easily add space to your Xdrive at any time by selecting My Account from the Folder Tree and then clicking Manage Space. There is no other limit on how much or how often you can upload.

Why is uploading so slow?
Most of the transfer time for a large item is due to its travel across the Internet. Delay is typically a consequence of heavy Internet traffic, the speed of one's connection to the Internet, and the speed of one's computer. Once an upload or download begins, everything in Xdrive is optimized, and the transfer speed is generally out of Xdrive's control.

Why am I experiencing slow uploads on a T1 connection?
T1 connections are synchronous at 1.5 Mbps. Theoretically if no one else is sharing your bandwidth you should be able to see maximum upload speeds of 11.5 Mb/minute. In practice several factors slow this speed down. First, Internet latency can shave off as much as 40% of the speed. Second, T1 connections are found in office environments where other people are sharing your bandwidth. Third, office environments often have proxies and firewalls that slow down the speed of file transfers. If you are experiencing slow speeds on a T1 connection at the office, talk to your Systems Administrator about configuring your proxy and firewall differently to admit Xdrive traffic.

Why does the remaining time on my upload keep changing?
During file uploads, the time remaining field in the upload box displays an estimate of the time remaining for the upload. Do not be concerned if this value increases or decreases unexpectedly during the file upload. This value is based on the current transfer rate of your files. As your transfer rate increases or decreases (e.g., due to network congestion or low memory on your system), the remaining time value is adjusted accordingly.

What happens if I interrupt an upload?
Interrupting an upload will cause the upload process to fail. Please do not navigate away from the upload page until your upload is complete. If you would like to browse other sites while uploading, you should open a new browser window.

Why do I receive error 2161 when attempting to upload?
Your firewall may not be allowing your upload to occur. When you upload a file, a small pop-up window opens and controls the process. If this process is interrupted by your firewall, the system will return with error message 2161.
To correct this, simply click on the small pop-up window, and press the F5 key to refresh it. It may be necessary for you to do this more than once in order to restart the upload process.

What should I do if I continue to have problems uploading?
If you are uploading a large batch of data consisting of large files or many folders and subfolders, you may want to consider uploading them a few at a time. Smaller size transfers take less time and are less likely to fail. If one upload method fails, try another.
